カモノハシ
体長50cm～60cm。体重0.7～2.５kg。手足は水掻きがついていてクチバシはアヒルのように平たく体はビーバーのような短い毛で覆われています。
ハリモグラと同じく単孔類。単孔類は北半球には生息せずさらにこのとカモノハシとはりモグラのみという非常に珍しいものなんです。
単孔類は鳥類と同じく排泄出腔といって生殖と排泄する所が一か所の穴でまかなっていて、出産は卵を産みそして母乳で育てます。母乳といっても乳首がなくお腹にある乳腺から母乳を染み出せることができます。
カモノハシは毒もあります。雄のカモノハシの後ろ足に長さ１５mmほどの小さな爪のようなものが生えていてそこから毒を出します。
カモノハシは１億５千万年前からいたと言われていて「いきた化石」とも言われています。

The platypus is an egg laying mammal and usually only lay about two eggs per season.
It feeds on worms, insect larvae, freshwater shrimp, and freshwater yabbies.
The male platypus has a long spur about 15mm on their hind legs which is poisonous and fossils of the Platypus have been found dating back to 150million years old.
